$2 million in recycling grants open to Victorian businesses

Grant applications are open for the $2 million funded by the federal and Victorian governments Victorian Circular Economy Recycling Modernization Fund, covering recycling and refurbishment of plastic, paper, cardboard and tyres.

The third cycle of the program is open to businesses and councils to help invest in new facilities or upgrade existing ones.

Grants from the scheme, administered by Sustainability Victoria, are worth between $50,000 and $500,000 and cover up to 25% of project costs. (For local governments, grants cover up to one-third of costs.)

“This $2 million in funding builds on more than $68 million in joint funding from the Australian and Victorian governments that has already been awarded to 21 infrastructure projects across Victoria,” the federal minister said on Tuesday. Environment, Tanya Plibersek.

According to the federal government, this will support more than 270 new full-time jobs and process 322,000 tonnes of waste glass, plastic, paper, cardboard and tires per year.
