Community investment grants offered by Centraide | News, Sports, Jobs


NEW ULM – United Way of Brown County Area will open its annual Community Investment Grants for proposals on March 1 with a deadline of April 30 at 4:30 p.m. Each year United Way uses funds donated to our giving campaign to provide grant dollars to Brown County nonprofit organizations in the health and social service sectors.

United Way’s service area includes: New Ulm, Hanska, Searles, Evan, Sleepy Eye, Springfield, Comfrey, Essig, Levenworth and Cobden. The grants focus on nonprofit organizations that assist and provide resources to Brown County residents in the following impact areas:

• Health — Promote healthy physical and mental well-being and create access to activities and tools that encourage healthy lifestyles.

• Education — Helping Brown County residents of all ages reach their full potential.

• Financial sustainability — Promote individual and family income sustainability and basic human needs.

Eligible applicants must be an incorporated 501(c)3 nonprofit charitable organization, government unit, or educational organization. Religious and unincorporated organizations can apply if they have a tax host.

Applicants must provide services based on need, be non-discriminatory, be governed by an active policy development council, have a strong financial budget for their proposed program or project, and have a local chapter or program that serves residents of Brown County.

New and established organizations/programs that meet a local or unique need not currently being met in Brown County are encouraged to apply.

The United Way Board of Directors and staff believe that by lifting up and helping those most in need in our service area, we can improve the lives of every person in Brown County.

The application will only be accepted in digital form. Applicants will not be able to access the application after 4:30 p.m. on April 30.
