Guangzhou City’s Tianhe District has offered to provide a one-time grant of up to 50,000 RMB (60,300 MOP / 7,460 USD) to young employees from Macao and Hong Kong in the district, with a stipend of up to 5 million RMB granted for the high-end talents of the two SARs.
Tianhe District recently gathers public opinion on “Measures to deepen support for the development of innovation and entrepreneurship of young people in Hong Kong and Macao”, with the public consultation text proposed to grant one-off subsidies for young people from Macau and Hong Kong working in the district, as well as other support measures initiated for the creation of businesses and the “high-end talents” of the territory.
Associate graduates, undergraduates, postgraduates and PhDs will receive a one-time grant of RMB 5,000, RMB 10,000, RMB 30,000 and RMB 50,000 respectively.
An internship program is also launched in the text, promising to provide summer internship opportunities for young people from Macau and Hong Kong, with a meal allowance of 1200 RMB and a transport allowance of 300 RMB.
For start-ups, eligible entrepreneurship projects founded by young people from Macau and Hong Kong will receive a one-time grant of 100,000 RMB.
For projects that have won prizes in national, provincial and ministerial competitions, or those funded by the Hong Kong Youth Development Fund, Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Fund and Macau Young Entrepreneurs Aid Scheme, Tianhe District will provide a grant equal to the amount of the award premium or the amount of assistance granted by the funds, but not exceeding RMB 300,000.
High-end talents from Hong Kong and Macau who occupy prominent positions in key companies will receive a one-time grant of 500,000 RMB.
Meanwhile, residents of Hong Kong and Macao who are members of Chinese Academy of Sciences or academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, postdoctoral scholars of both SARs and PhD graduates working in the district , will receive a one-time grant. of RMB 5 million, RMB 300,000 and RMB 100,000 respectively.
