Mauritius will name a metro station after Mahatma Gandhi built with the help of India | Mobility News

The Mauritian government has decided to name one of the country’s main metro stations as Mahatma Gandhi station to thank India for supporting the express metro project, the country’s Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth has said. “I am privileged to inform you that as a token of appreciation for India’s support for the Metro Express project, my government has decided to name one of the major metro stations Mahatma Gandhi Station,” said Jugnauth.

He jointly inaugurated and launched projects virtually on Thursday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “I am proud to say that this event once again demonstrates the very special and privileged relations between Mauritius and India,” he added. The Prime Minister also pointed out that like Metro Express, the implementation of these projects would not have been possible without the credit lines and grants generously provided by the Government of India.

“This illustrates once again the deep and continued commitments to the progress of Mauritius and the well-being of its people. Bharat ne Mauritius ko pragati ke liye hamesha sahyog diya h iske liye mauirtus ki janta hamesha Bharat ki aabhari rahegni”, he added.

Furthermore, Jugnauth said adequate housing for families of various income groups is high on his government’s agenda. “We are committed to easing housing programs by building more houses and keeping in mind the need to provide other facilities. ,” he added.

Prime Minister Modi and Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth jointly inaugurated the Indian-funded social housing project in Mauritius on Thursday. They have also launched the Civil Service College and 8 MW solar PV farm projects in Mauritius which are being undertaken as part of India’s development support.
