Mohamed bin Zayed allocates funds to buy books from ADIBF for public school libraries


ABU DHABI- His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, ordered that AED 6 million be allocated for the purchase of books and educational materials among the 500,000 titles available at Abu Dhabi Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) 2021.

The books and teaching materials will be distributed to public schools across the UAE, in support of the education sector. It also stresses the importance of ensuring that literary works and cultural resources are easily accessible to students of all age groups.

Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, said: “Investing in books means investing in minds, the very foundation upon which the success of any nation rests. We are grateful to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed for his support.

Providing students with a wide variety of literary works from the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair will undoubtedly play a decisive role in their educational development. It will also go a long way in broadening their horizons and making them better acquainted with different cultures to hone their skills and deepen their experiences throughout their educational journey. Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, said: “We greatly appreciate this gesture, which reflects the vision and wisdom of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces as it provides significant support and assistance to one of our vital cultural industries in the country, and follows the recent announcement that publishers are exempt a participation fee for the current edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.

He added: “We will immediately start working with the Department of Education to ensure that title selection meets the needs of students at different levels of education and to provide school libraries with the latest and most important publications. literary, scientific, cultural and educational. In doing so, we will be able to motivate our young people to read and discover more about the world around them, which is in line with His Highness’s vision to encourage reading at home. students, and to make reading and learning a priority for the UAE community. “

ADIBF is considered one of the most important cultural events at local and regional level. Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, the fair has become a leading platform to support the publishing industry, enhance cultural exchanges and expand the reach of Arab creative and literary publications by developing platforms – advanced digital forms such as written and audio publications. .

The Fair continues to play a central role in strengthening the reading culture within the community, bringing together readers and pioneers, reflecting added value to the local and international cultural and humanitarian landscape.

The 30th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair will be held with the participation of more than 800 exhibitors from 46 countries, presented as a “ hybrid ” program of virtual events and activities organized on the ground in the framework of strict precautionary measures to ensure visitors an inspiring and safe cultural experience.
