Salem-Keizer Schools to Select Equity Advisory Committee

The Salem-Keizer Public Schools Board of Trustees will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Elementary School in Salem. Members of the public will not be allowed to attend in person due to growing security concerns.

People can watch the meeting online at or on Capital Community Television 21.

This will be the first school board meeting since the start of the school year.

According to the meeting agenda posted by the district, it is requested to:

  • Approve a proclamation that he will observe Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, with a welcome week from September 9 to September 18.
  • Pass a resolution declaring September Suicide Prevention Month.
  • Select the district equity advisory committee. The district said it received 239 applications for the 20- to 25-member committee. Those recommended for the committee are Abigail Marie Eckhart, Anabel Manzo, Armondo Arriga Munoz, Britt Currie, Denise Proudfoot, Elisa Andrade Torres, Elsy Heldart, Erin Reese, Gabe Maestas, Heather Hawkins, Joaquin M. Lara Midkiff, Jolene Soto, Kathleen Jonathan, Kelsey Tedor, Monica Ceja, Oscar Porras, Rosanne Ricci, Sarah Grantham, Serena Sischo, Tamika Hampson, Taeasha Johnson and Terra Boyko.
  • Accept $156,712 in federal grants to support “at-risk” students from the Oregon Department of Education and $1,556,850 in grants for the Carly Childhood Program to serve 107 additional preschool students from the Department of Education. Education.

Additionally, Cottingham President Ashley Carson will provide an update on the search for a new Superintendent to replace Christy Perry, who is retiring.
